Inaugural BPA Lunch a Resounding Success

March 2012

The inaugural Bournemouth Property Association lunch took place last Friday, 30th March in the Town Centre.

Suffice it to say, the event was a resounding success.

144 representatives from across the property and construction sector from in and around the Bournemouth area congregated at The Print Room and were all keen to network and take something away from the day.

As the attendees arrived, it was clear this was going to be a great event. The atmosphere benefited early on from the large number of people who had decided to make an afternoon of it and it was clear they were in the mood to make a positive contribution to the day by engaging with professional friends old and new in a most convivial manner.

The Print Room performed well and, as the lunch concluded, the diners were treated to an insight from Lewis Manning on how they could help continue to raise money for their vital services and for the new building project in Poole. Donations were then generously given and a 'Smarties' initiative was handed out; eat a tube of Smarties and then return the empty tube filled up with 20p pieces. Each tube holds just in excess of 12 so will be vital in raising the much needed funds for the new project at Lewis Manning.

The event was such a success that a number of people remained in the restaurant after the food had concluded. Indeed, a large rear guard remained well past the 5PM deadline agreed with the restaurant and as new diners were arriving, they finally dispersed in smaller groups around the town.

Stewart Baynham, spokesman for the BPA said: "The inaugural lunch proved a phenomenal success and we all had a high degree of professional fun and some very good socialising. Our aim was to keep the price reasonable but provide a forum for people to get together to reinforce existing relationships and forge new and meaningful relationships with other property professionals."

He added: "We will be seeking some formal feedback but if the comments made so far are anything to go by, we will be doing more of the same - hopefully in June."

Chaired by Suki Samra, the Bournemouth Property Association was formed in 2010 so is still in its infancy.

The BPA holds events across the year for property professionals to network and socialise with a wide range of property professionals in the same market sector. It also provides a vehicle to obtain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points via informative bi-monthly seminars.
