Bournecoast Ranked in Rightmove's Top Ten

March 2011

DORSET Property Agents Bournecoast are delighted to be ranked in the top ten locally on Rightmove, for the second consecutive month.

For the period January to the beginning of February they were graded 9th out of 55 and their portfolio of properties were seen no less than 410,446 times.    The latter part of February, into March saw them jump to 7th position, which is fantastic news.

Simon Tebbutt, Business Development Manager said, “The general perception of estate agents isn’t that positive, but we at Bournecoast are passionate about the service we provide to both landlords and tenants and this latest information from Rightmove just goes to prove our ethical working ethos reaps rewards. If you spend time with people to fully understand their needs, aspirations and fears they will begin to trust your professional judgement and advice. Estate agency is a ‘people’ business, it’s not a commodity driven business and failure to identify the difference between the two will inevitably lead to poor customer satisfaction levels. We pride ourselves on providing a service based on nurturing and developing relationships. Indeed some of our client relationships span two or three generations. Perhaps it’s a little known fact that it’s ten times more costly to acquire a new relationship than to manage and effectively develop an existing one.

The mechanics of estate agency isn’t at all complicated. The complications come with the human element and having a team of people who fully understand how the value of exceptional interpersonal skills makes all the difference; after all, people buy from people don’t they?

The Rightmove figures are purely for the sales side of the business.  Bournecoast’s lettings department have also excelled and started off the year with a record number of tenancies.  They have also seen an increase in properties being let through Bournecoast.

Please find below some top tips to consider, to getting the best from your estate agent.:

Do you want a quick sale, which may result in you not necessarily earning as much as you could, or are you happy to wait out for the right price?  It’s questions like this that you need to be honest with your estate agent about. If you don’t truly know you won’t be able to direct them and get the best out of their services.

Speak to your neighbours, friends and family and see who they have used, and then take the time to check these agencies out.

Just because an agency may have lots of offices may not necessarily mean they are the best agent for you.  A smaller independent agent may spend more time identifying what you want from the sale of your property and ensuring the sale goes though smoothly. Bournecoast have over 50 years experience so know what it takes to sell a property and what makes a good investment.

Feel free to quiz your agent and gain as much knowledge about the property as you can and then check this out for yourself. There are many websites around these days that have information on average prices of houses in a street, so do your research. This also applies to asking them about the position of the local market. Don’t be afraid to challenge them and ask them to back up their answers with market research.

Knowing the market can also ensure that you have a clear understanding.

Look at the number of “sold” and “for sale” signs in the area’.  This will tell you which agents are most prominent in the area.

An estate agent with a good number of local properties on their books means they attract more purchasers and are successful in what they do in your area.

Ensure your chosen estate agent is a member of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), as this is a good sign that they will adhere to industry rules and regulations. You can also ask if any of the staff are trained in Estate Agency. The NAEA has recognised awards for different levels of training. The more competent the staff are, the more care and consideration you should receive.

If you’re looking for a local, independent estate agents that has been established for over 50 years, is family run and is part of the NAEA with qualified staff, than contact Bournecoast for free, impartial advice or an analysis of the return you can expect from your property, on 01202 437888 or visit
