LOCAL AREA

Mudeford has an intriguing history of smuggling over the centuries and has a picturesque Quay. Its spectacular location with Christchurch Harbour on one side and the open sea on the other makes it a very popular destination for holiday visitors. A pleasant walk from the house will take you to Avon beach. If you walk along Avon Beach you will find The Noisy Lobster cafe, shop, ice cream parlour and The Fish and Chip Hut. You will also find Mudeford Quay offering the ever popular family pastime of 'crabbing' from the quayside. The Quay Head is a pedestrian zone and is a hub of activity set amongst a cluster of historic buildings thought to date from 1695 including the pub 'The Haven House Inn'. Take a five minute ferry ride from Mudeford Quay and there is the unique beach huts on Mudeford Spit. In the evening in Mudeford you can enjoy a meal in the Upper Deck Bar & Restaurant with its stunning harbour views. Next door to the Upper Deck is The Jetty, the multiple award-winning restaurant, perched on the water’s edge. Also nearby is Steamer Point which is a 24 acre cliff top designated local nature reserve (LNR) that is situated between Highcliffe Castle and Friar's Cliff on the Christchurch coastline. Highcliffe Castle is situated on the cliffs at Highcliffe. Christchurch Quay, a short drive away, offers access through to the riverside walks, park, cafe, Boathouse Restaurant, bandstand, children's play area and an exciting water play park and paddling pool which has many interactive features including water jets and sprays, a water play pump and wheel, channels and sluices as well as a paddling pool. Bournemouth town centre is a car ride away for even more high street stores, tourist attractions and family entertainment.

Reviews & comments

While we were pleased to find toilet rolls, teabags, salt, pepper, washing up liquid etc previous correspondence had intimated they were not provided. Again we were led to believe there was no internet but....wifi was available which was a plus point. Regarding previous comments about the house and gardens, we loved its homeliness and quirkiness and felt very comfortable and relaxed about having a dog with us. Our two year old grandson loved the "secret garden" which previous reviewers seemed to think was detrimentally overgrown. He also loved the toys provided. Small additions to the household which would be useful are tea towels and a bath mat. A very welcome addition were the garden chairs - which shows you are listening to reviews. The location is superb and we definitely want to return. It is overpriced but then there was no extra charge for the dog!

My husband & I spent a week in April. Excellent location for Avon beach. Close proximity to local bus stop for services to Christchurch & Bournemouth. There were some issues with the property on arrival, but Bournecoast were excellent for sorting these issues out quickly. A nice size garden to enjoy the evening sunshine, but we had to use our own beach chairs as no garden furniture available with the property.

There is no WiFi and basic things like soap, toilet roll and a vacuum that works are not supplied. The location is wonderful tho super handy for the beach and town.

Excellent location to explore the beautiful beaches and lovely places around. The house is conformable to the pictures: clean, bright, not very modern but cosy.

This is a perfect little base to explore this part of Dorset. Immaculately situated - minutes from the beach, the shops, town etc.
