LOCAL AREA
Westbourne is a popular holiday location situated between Bournemouth and Poole. It is affectionately known as The Village and offers a mix of design specialists, beauty stores and delicious delis, pubs and child-friendly restaurants. Alum Chine beach is within walking distance and is hugely popular with families due to a pirate-themed large adventure playground, toilets with baby changing facilities, RNLI lifeguard stations, a restaurant and ice cream kiosks. From Alum Chine beach you can take a peaceful stroll through the exotic woodlands which takes you to Westbourne Village. For those who love seaside walks, the promenade beneath the cliffs offers a scenic route all the way to Bournemouth Pier. The land train also operates along this stretch, from the bus terminus at the foot of Alum Chine to Bournemouth Pier and onward to Boscombe Pier. Heading in the other direction toward Poole, you will discover Branksome Dene Beach, complete with more sandy shores, an RNLI lifeguard station, ice cream kiosk and public toilets. Between April and September, this area also offers surfboard and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) hire and lessons. Continue your walk past Branksome Chine Beach, and you will eventually arrive at Sandbanks, where breathtaking views stretch across Poole Bay.
A short drive will take you into Bournemouth town centre, offering high street shopping, theatres, the BH2 leisure complex with Odeon cinemas, a variety of restaurants, bars and entertainment options for the whole family.
To explore even further, seasonal open-top buses offer routes into Bournemouth and Poole, or across the chain ferry from Sandbanks, providing access to Studland Bay, Swanage and the striking Old Harry Rocks.
