Southbourne is located on the coast to the eastern side of Bournemouth and is within easy reach of the historic town of Christchurch. Hengistbury Head is a short drive from the property and is a natural scenic area of Headland between Bournemouth and Christchurch. It is an area of outstanding beauty with far reaching views of Christchurch Harbour, Mudeford, the Isle of Wight, Poole Bay and Bournemouth. A scenic land train (known as the Noddy train) makes regular journeys from the cafe to the end of the spit, a journey of ten or so minutes. The Hengistbury Head visitor centre offers a variety of activities for all ages and abilities. Wick Village is close by for riverside walks and boating activities, a public slipway and 3-par golf course and driving range. In Wick Village is Tuckton Tea Gardens, a crazy golf course, river boat hire and ferries which will take you to Christchurch Quay. If you catch the ferry to Christchurch Quay you will find access through to more riverside walks and the park, cafe, Boathouse Restaurant, bandstand, play area for children and an exciting water play park and paddling pool which has many interactive features. On the Quay you can also take the opportunity to take the Vintage Ferry which runs regularly to Wick, Mudeford Sandbank and Hengistbury Head during the summer months (weather permitting). A very short drive will take you to Southbourne Grove where you can find Tesco Express, Sainsbury Local, other local shops, cafes, bars and a range of restaurants.
