Southbourne is known for being a popular seaside resort in the suburb of Bournemouth, Southbourne-On-Sea is situated between well-known Boscombe and Christchurch. Southbourne makes for the perfect stay, with attractions all within walking distance. It is the home to one of the many local Blue Flag award-winning beaches, the miles of safe golden sands ensuring a perfect day out. One tourist feature of Southbourne-On-Sea is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway (they run between Easter and the end of October), a funicular railway between the cliff top coastal road and the promenade and beach. This provides very easy access to Southbourne-On-Sea's Blue Flag beach, from which it is possible to reach the beaches at Boscombe and Bournemouth. The main area of Southbourne is Southbourne Grove, which harbours a long shopping street that has a unique mix of individual shops and restaurants. Here you’ll find local amenities such a post office, bank, pharmacy and chain supermarkets including both Tesco's and Sainsbury's, for those who wish to cook at home of an evening. A short walk away is Tuckton Tea Gardens which is a traditional cosy cafe set in beautiful gardens beside the River Stour. They even have a seasonal putting green and crazy golf course to keep you amused. From here you can climb aboard one of the Classic ferries and take a trip down the River Stour in to Christchurch Harbour.
